Kelowna Wedding Photographer in Banff
Engagement Photo Session with Carol and David

Since these two live in Calgary, I asked if they would be willing to do their engagement photo session in Banff. They were thrilled that I asked, and booked a weekend getaway for themselves. Unless you’re staying at the Banff Springs Hotel, you won’t (technically) be allowed to photograph within the hotel building, so you’ll have to be discreet if you plan on doing so without permission. I don’t condone such behavior as you – the photographer – would put all future photographers’ ability to photograph on the premises, in jeopardy. Fortunately, Carol and David splurged, and got a room for the night.
It was a fun weekend for all three of us. They came from Calgary and I drove from Kelowna. Driving the Roger’s Pass during the month of April wasn’t as treacherous as it is these days, and it was actually a very lovely drive.

Engagement Photo Gallery

One or two hours for an engagement session is fine, but for an awesome experience, two half days is amazing. Since we spent the first day driving, we both arrived in Banff late in the afternoon, so the light was already subdued. We decided to get a few quick shots around the exterior of the hotel and then head in for dinner. Afterwards we spent a couple hours walking around inside, stopping when my eye caught something interesting.
The next day we walked and drove to many different locations. The amount of images I captured in those two days was both good and bad. God because I knew I would have a lot of great shots from which to choose for their guest book. Bad because there were too many images to go through and choose just the best ones. Too many choices isn’t always a good thing.
Carol and David’s feature post has many of my favorite images, but there were so many more. You can also see their wedding photos at Summerhill Pyramid Winery in Kelowna, here.
