Stanley Park Engagement
Stanley Park in the fall is amazing. Trouble is, a lot of people feel the same way. When Travis told me that they wanted to do a Stanley Park engagement session, but they didn’t want people in their photos, I had my doubts. Trying to get photos of just Stephanie and Travis enjoying themselves was a bit difficult. There had to be hundreds of people out the day we finally got together for this shoot. In the end, I think we did alright.
Red Rubber Boots
Stephanie loves her red rubber boots. I get that women can go gaga over their shoes, but rubber boots? Okay, they look cute. Travis was smart in picking a shirt that would go with Stephanie’s boots. Or maybe it was Stephanie who picked out his shirt.
Where are All the People?
If you think Stanley Park is a place where few people visit, I will take that as a compliment. Don’t be fooled. There were a lot of people enjoying the beauty that is Stanley Park. A lot of waiting, and a bit of Photoshop help to sell the illusion that these two had the park to themselves.
Picnic in the Park
We were all having fun, with Stephanie and Travis being romantic and silly. We spent the first hour walking through Stanley Park, stopping once in a while to take pictures. We had gone quite a ways when Stephanie remembered that she had brought a picnic lunch. With a change of clothes and a picnic basket, they set off to find a private spot to enjoy an intimate snack.
Time for Something a Bit More Formal
For the next portion of their Stanley Park engagement photo session, we actually moved out of the park. Stephanie wanted some photos while wearing more formal attire, so we headed to the Pan Pacific Hotel. I did some quick scouting while Stephanie and Travis changed outfits. When they returned, I suddenly got a glimpse of what Stephanie would be like as a bride. Gorgeous! See for yourself.
Final Shots
It had been a long day, and the light went quickly. One last request that these two had was a night-time photo in the Gastown area of downtown Vancouver. I found a great spot for what I think produces iconic imagery. The black and white photo in particular works really well. You might be able to see that Travis is standing in front of a window. What you can’t see are the people inside having dinner. I learned throughout the day that Travis is a rather bashful guy, so this made him a little uneasy. When I asked Stephanie to join him, however, I’m sure he forgot all about those eyes staring out at him.
