It might sound a bit odd for you to read this, but some photographers I know are fans of other photographers. I happen to be a huge fan of Chris and Lynn Jaska of Chris Plus Lynn. They are in the top ten of the worlds best wedding photographers, so when I got the opportunity to photograph a wedding at Villa La Vedetta in Florence, I was super thrilled because I knew that Chris and Lynn had photographed there also.
As a bonus for me, the day before their wedding, Alice and Ken hired a car and driver to take them on a tour of the Tuscan region south of Florence, and of course, I had to tag along. You can check out those images here.
After returning to the villa later that evening, I had just enough time to download images, organize my gear and get some sleep – there was lots planned for the next day – the wedding day.
Alice and Ken planned a “First Look” session in the Piazza del Duomo, beside the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore. It was a challenge with all the tourists, but we managed. Plus, I laid on the ground and shot upwards a lot. The rest of the morning we traveled around florence, taking pictures, and stopping briefly for gelato – sooo good.
Back to Villa La Vedetta for the ceremony, and what a perfect day for it. The grounds at the villa were beautiful, but Alice was amazing. Dinner was served shortly after the ceremony, and what an awesome setting. The food was great, the party was fun and the photos are spectacular. If I do say so myself.
